A new product on the market is a completely new design challenge

Visual and functional design of a sales service for a startup is a big responsibility, but also a big field for creative activity.

What task did we have?

HomeScanner.pl is a website offering a completely new service on the real estate market, which is the possibility to purchase a report on the property before buying it. The client was just introducing the idea to the market, and we, as it turned out, had to play a significant role in this — from the design of the entire visual identity (logo, colors, typography) to the main business tool, which is the entire service HomeScanner.pl. At the next stage, we supplemented our activities with the graphic design of profiles in social media, blog and templates of advertising materials.

What was the goal?

In this case, all design activities had to be aimed at sales. Since it is carried out exclusively in the online channel, the website is the main sales channel and replaces practically the entire sales department. Therefore, it was important to interest the final customer in the product and present it in such a way that he would like to make a purchase. What was important was the fact that the product is a completely new option on the market.

Target group

Due to the fact that the project had its premiere on the market (both in Poland and abroad no one had offered such a service before), together with the Client we made preliminary assumptions about the potential recipient. We supplemented them with extensive corridor and field studies, that is, interviews and consultations with accidentally encountered people. This is how the first Personas were created. The target group of the project was to be both men and women aged about 30-60 years (for men) and 25-50 years (for women), well-paid, with a minimum of secondary education, who planned to buy real estate (house or apartment) in the near future.

Briefly about the implementation

We started the process by developing a visual identity. The basic colors that we have chosen for the client are navy blue and fuchsia. The first one was supposed to reflect the knowledge that the Client will find in the report, while fuchsia is an action, that is, the purchase of real estate based on the information obtained. The whole is kept in a modern and subdued convention so as to hit the tastes of both women and men. In the logo, we accentuated the sign, which was formed from the combination of the roof symbol (house) and the waves of Internet coverage (online service).

At the next stage, we moved on to the design of the website. This task was preceded by numerous consultations with the client in order to better understand the idea behind the service. We also focused on the recipients through in-depth interviews and surveys. In our opinion, this is the absolute basis for creating a project that is an effective online business tool. The first version of the website was subjected to numerous tests even before the HomeScanner.pl project was officially launched on the market. Among them were tests with users and A/B tests. Based on the acquired knowledge, we decided to slightly modify the first version.

The second version of the main page, after modifications

We simplified the real estate search engine, detailed the advantages and benefits of the product on the main page, and also supplemented the content describing the product itself. As it turned out during subsequent tests, this significantly increased the conversion and the number of queries. Copywriting was extremely important in this project, which showed that good content on the website is, in addition to a clear and interesting design and intuitive operation, the key to the success of this type of website.

Even before launching the service on the market, we also prepared an author's blog design and assumptions about the publication. In the era of a huge amount of information that we can find on the Internet, substantive, authoritative content, provided in a visually pleasing manner, build an expert image of the company and significantly influence the positioning of the site in search engines.

The final stage was the design of visual materials for social media profiles and advertising materials, which were supposed to build a coherent visualization for the project in different communication channels.

What are the effects?

The result of our activities was a complete web service and full visual identification, which were a key element to launch the product on the market. The project is still in the improvement phase, and its success is influenced by both the marketing activities undertaken by the client and the demand for this type of service.
